With under a week to go until the Gamersject Lan Event at Split, Croatia, we have decided to conduct a Pre-event interview with one of the players. This event is the first Summer Lan Event for the TCM-Gaming organization and it truly will be a big one.
Recently, the TCM-Gaming Call of Duty 4 squad made a line-up change, with the addition of Mathieu 'woken' Ruiz into the main line-up. Due to that very reason, I decided to have a small chat with Mathieu, about his gaming career and the future. As a addition to this interview, we will also be releasing a second one soon to countdown to the Gamersject Lan Event.
Hey Mathieu, could you please introduce yourself to the readers?
Hey, My Name is Mathieu Ruiz, I am 21 years old from Paris and currently playing for TCM-Gaming.
Whats the weather like in Paris and even more at France at the moment? Worth a visit?
Paris always worth a visit to be honest:D being definetely the best city ever^^ but yeah the weather at the moment here is really amazing... sunny without any clouds and so hot and u can see girls hanging around everywhere wearing mini skirt quite like heaven hEHHE.

Clearly shows who he's supporting!
Moving on now to the gaming side of your life, how did you first get involved with competitive gaming?
I first got involved with competitive gaming in 2005, I think something like this with Call of Duty 1. At first I obviously was, what we generally call "a noob" but as I hate loosing I made the effort to progress and in 2006 I joined one of the best french team (best known as emuLate) and that's where everything started.
During your early days on Call of Duty 1 and so on, did you attend any lan events or were you the online-practice type?
No, my first offline event was on Call of Duty 2. If I remember well it was the MaxLan 2006 where the French championship took place and I finished 3rd, not to bad for a first event. So yes, basically I was the onlince-practise type on cod1.
Once Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare came out, did you make the jump to right away?
Well, I was quite Happy with Call of duty 2 and did not see Call of duty 4 from a good eye... but as all the community moved on it I had to follow.

Buds for life!
Why, did Call of Duty 4 look bad in your mind? Why did you prefer a older game to it?
No it didn't look bad at all, it's just that I am a world war 2 fan and for me Call of Duty 2 was just perfect and the right choice for the competition but things went that way.
But after having played it now for some time, do you still prefer Call of Duty 2 to it?
To be honest, Yes I do.
Talking a bit about your Call of Duty 4 career now, what was the first competitive team you were part of? How did you do?
So my last team on Call of duty 2 was TLR and we were the best french team at this time but we left TLR at the end due to inactivity and when call of duty 4 came out I jumped on it with the same line up but with the temporary name of team cSoon (coming soon).
Now you have started a new leaf in your career and that is with TCM-Gaming. You previously were the teams sixth, but now you have moved into the full line-up. How did that make you feel?
Well I wasn't an official sixth but as they are all friends of mine for a long time and as I really enjoy to play with them I was there to help them when they needed someone:). About me joining the full line-up of TCM-Gaming makes me feel proud for 2 reasons. The first one is that representing such a organisation is a big wish for everygamer and the second one is that after 2 years away from gaming I managed to come back at the top level.

That guy has to much hair gel on him!
In less than a week you will be in attendance at the Gamersject event in Croatia. How does it feel to once again compete at a lan event.
I feel so excited to play in this competition as I know we can do something great and I am really looking forward to being there with my teammates.
With the event approaching, have you done any special practicing for it on your own?
No nothing special, just usual stuff like working my tacnades, smokes, watching some demos and playing TDM.
Who are you most looking to play at Gamersject and why?
Well I really want to face Fnatic because they won everything this year and Power Gaming as they are for me the biggest favourites this summer.
What would be your prediction for the Topp 3 at Gamersject?
I would say 1 - Power Gaming 2 - Fnatic 3 - Team Dignitas.
Thanks you for your time Mathieu, any shoutouts?
Thank you for the interview and thanks to TCM-Gaming for the opportunity they have given us this summer to attend the lan events. Also a big thanks to all of our sponsors MadCatz, Cyborg, Cooler Master, CM Storm, Multiplay, Gamersuniform.
